The two PMs discussed concrete measures to further beef up the Viet Nam-Australia comprehensive partnership.
Both sides agreed to continue fostering political trust through the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones.
Australian PM Turnbull invited his Vietnamese counterpart to attend Australia-ASEAN Special Summit scheduled in March next year and visit Australia on the occasion.
Turnbull affirmed Australia expects to upgrade the bilateral ties to strategic level and pledged to support Viet Nam to successfully host the APEC Year.
PM Phuc thanked Australia for assisting Viet Nam in climate change adaptation, innovation, business startups and capacity building for private sector.
He asked the Australian side to open up market for Vietnamese goods, especially tropical fruits and aquatic products.
Regarding the East Sea issue, Australian PM Turnbull shared Viet Nam’s position on importance of ensuring, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea and on settlement of disputes through peaceful measures on the basis of international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The same day, PM Phuc also met with Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Senegalese President Macky Sall, Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau to discuss on bilateral ties , regional and international cooperation with the countries./.
