PM meets Chairman of Russian State Duma

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc proposed the legislative agencies of Viet Nam and Russia promote cooperation on international stage at his meeting on May 17 with Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia Sergey Naryshkin during his official visit to Russia.

The PM hailed achievements made by Russia in stabilizing socio-economic development and the role of the State Duma in ensuring legal framework for the national development, asserting that Viet Nam gives priority to enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia.

Mr. Naryshkin affirmed that the State Duma and other parties in the Duma advocate policies to strengthening the relationship with Viet Nam.

The two leaders lauded the developments in the two nations’ relationship as well as the close cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the State Duma, especially when the two Parliaments will celebrate the 60th anniversary  of their cooperation in 2016.

PM Phuc suggested the two sides coordinate in protecting the effectiveness and feasibility of the international conventions they have joined, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982.

The Vietnamese PM conveyed National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s invitation to Mr.  Naryshkin to pay a visit to Viet Nam.
