Mr. Phuc made the request on August 18 while working with the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) on preparation for the upcoming storm.
Raising high alerts
The third typhoon was forecast a powerful and fast-moving storm.
Besides coastal provinces like Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An, other localities must be cautious of the typhoon, PM Phuc noted.
He also stressed the importance of protecting important dykes, agricultural cultivation, and responding to possible power outbreaks as well as landslides.
Mitigating damages
The PM asked for prompt preparations to protect houses, paddy cultivation, landslides, and ensure people’s safety.
Earlier, PM Phuc dispatched three working groups led by three Deputy PMs and ministerial-level leaders to key localities to supervise storm preparatory activities with a view to minimizing losses.
He also noted local authorities to evacuate people in vulnerable areas to safer places.
Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha reported that the ministry is consulting other international forecasts.
“Early warnings on tropical storm are expected to help with effective response,” he added./.
