PM welcomes Cambodian NA President

VGP - The past 50 years was a special period in the history of the Viet Nam-Cambodia relations as both countries were united and ready to sacrifice for each other.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the above remark at meeting with Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Heng Samrin who is now in Viet Nam to attend the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties (June 24).

Phuc highlighted that the bilateral relationship built over the past five decades is an invaluable and sacred asset that both nations should be maintained and further nurtured by both countries, especially young generations.

He took the occasion to express sincere thanks to the valuable support and assistance of former Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk as well as other Cambodian leaders and people for Viet Nam’s past struggle for national liberation and  current process of national construction and development.

The Government chief expressed his pleasure at the fine development of the bilateral ties, urging both sides to continue efforts to further consolidate and enhance friendship and cooperation.

He asked the Cambodian side to help Vietnamese community in Cambodia to have legal status to lead a stable life in the neighboring country.

For his part, NA Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin highlighted that the bilateral relationship is developing vigorously and well under the motto of “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability.”

He expressed his belief that the two countries will strive to complete border demarcation and landmark planting to build a borderline of peace, stability and development.

The Cambodian leader also affirmed that Cambodia treasures valuable support and assistance of the Communist Party and people of Voet Nam for his country in the struggle for national liberation and development./.
