Accordingly, the VGU strives to become a leading training and research center in Viet Nam and to win recognition from regionally and internationally prestigious educational accreditation organizations.
The VGU is a public university under the national educational system. It has been established as a result of the Letter of Intent, signed on May 21, 2007; the “Joint Declaration on the Cooperation for the Establishment of the VGU", signed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Hessen State Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts in Ha Noi in March 2008; and the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1196/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2008 on the establishment of the VGU.
The university is under the MOET and is subject to the ministry’s State management on education and training and the Binh Duong provincial People’s Committee’s territorial administrative management.
The VGU has the functions and tasks of applying advanced training methods, programs and researches; and using modern tools and equipment with high practicability to train high-quality human resources, thus meeting Viet Nam’s demand for socio-economic development.
In addition, the university provides high-quality training of key professions on natural sciences and technology, meeting the demand for integration into the world’s advanced tertiary education.
The VGU uses English as a major language for teaching and studying activities; organizes German language teaching classes to enable learners to make a transition to higher education and post-graduate education in Germany’s universities; and teaches the Vietnamese language for foreign students to make it convenient for their stay in Viet Nam.
The VGU provides training at the university, master and PhD levels, closely combining training activities with scientific research activities. Students, learners and research students will be granted with respective certificates after finishing their training programs at the VGU.
