Mechanisms needed to leave no room for corruption, top leader says

VN, UK announce conclusion of free trade agreement negotiations

PM Phuc voiced his support for the UK to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and vowed to create favorable conditions for British investors to do business in Viet Nam.

Regarding the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in the UK next year, PM Phuc pledged that Viet Nam will participate in the event in an active and responsible manner in a bid to contribute to the global efforts in climate change adaptation.

He took the occasion to appreciate the UK’s stance on the East Sea, especially the maintenance of security, safety and freedom of nagivation and overflight in the East Sea.

For her part, Trade Secretary Elizabeth Truss said she will sign an agreement to confirm the conclusion of talks on a free trade deal between the two countries during her ongoing Viet Nam visit, expressing her belief that the trade pact will bring about practical benefits to both countries.

She congratulated Viet Nam on impressive economic performance amid the Covid-19 pandemic, affirming that her country considers Viet Nam as a trusted and stable partner.

Elizabeth Truss is the second British minister to have visited Viet Nam so far this year. In September Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab made an official visit to Viet Nam where he paid courtesey call on Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

PM Phuc emphasized that the trade deal, once signed and implemented, would help both countries to boost economic recovery in post COVID-19 pandemic period.

In his post on Twitter, Raab wrote that "Viet Nam has a key role to play in regional stability in East Asia.”/.
