As trade forms core part and major driver of the bilateral ties, PM Phuc urged the two countries’ competent authorities to maintain dialogues on the basis of constructive spirit and mutual respect in order to settle differences for mutual benefits.
Phuc noted with pleasure at the comprehensive growth of the Viet Nam-U.S. ties that are advancing in an increasingly practical and extensive manner, contributing to peace, security, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
He extended thanks to President Donald Trump and his Administration for their assistance for Viet Nam to overcome consequences caused by natural disasters in Central Viet Nam.
The Government chief especially highly valued the U.S. Congress’ recent approval of US$20 million for dioxin remediation at Bien Hoa airbase, affirming that the U.S. commitment to assist the Southeast Asian country in handling war consequences as well as Viet Nam’s efforts in search for American servicemen have contributed to strengthening trust and consolidating foundation for the bilateral ties to further flourish.
For his part, National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government’s measures to promote harmonious and sustainable trade with the U.S.
O’Brien said he had meetings with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Minister of Public Security To Lam and Minister of National Defense Ngo Xuan Lich, during which he had affirmed the US attaches importance to the Comprehensive Partnership with Viet Nam based on respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and each other’s political systems.
He congratulated Viet Nam on performing successful role as the ASEAN Chair in a turbulent year, reassuring that the U.S. backs ASEAN centrality and wishes to beef up the ASEAN-U.S. strategic partnership in such fields like economy, security, education, healthcare, science among others.
Both Phuc and O’Brien agreed that the two countries will continue collaboration in addressing the common challenges so as to make positive contributions to peace, stability, prosperity and cooperation in the region and the world./.
