The Cabinet recently released Resolution 23/ND-CP on the Government’s regular meeting for January.
Accordingly, the Government tasked ministries, agencies, and localities to actively propose measures in line with new circumstances; accelerate equitization, withdrawal of State capital from non-core business, and operation of SOEs.
The Ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance, Industry and Trade, the State Bank of Viet Nam (SBV) were asked to keep a close watch on economic performance, trade, international monetary developments in order to control inflation, stabilize the macro-economy, and promote growth.
The SBV was assigned to manage the monetary policies in an active and flexible manner; stabilize the macro-economy; guide commercial banks to allocate credit capital to prioritized areas, including agriculture, rural areas, export, auxiliary industries, SOEs, and high-tech.
The Ministry of Finance was asked to strengthen financial and State budget disciplines; manage State budget collection and spending; public debts, and ensure national finance security.
Boosting production
The Government tasked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to work with localities to take advantage of favorable weather to promote agro-forestry-fishery production; prevent disease outbreaks for animals and plants; respond to climate change; and craft criteria to determine high-tech farming application.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade was asked to work with relevant ministries and agencies to accelerate industrial production; ensure adequate supply of electricity and water for export and production.
The Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs was assigned to cooperate with localities to ensure labor force for production and business, especially at industrial parks and provide emergency relief for needy people in between-crop period.
Especially, the Government also tasked the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to work with relevant ministries, agencies, and localities to convert tourism into a spearhead industry; work with the Ministry of Public Security to pilot e-visa for foreigners; strengthen management of festivals./.
