The project, worth US$284.7 million, will be launched in the southern province of Ben Tre.
The project is aimed at protecting the agricultural sector and the livelihood of the local people around the areas threatened by sea-water intrusion due to climate change, high sea-level rise and over-exploitation of the Lower Mekong River as well as providing water for the province’s socio-economic development.
As many as 207,275 households in the province will be provided with water for production and daily activities and 204,270 ha will be prevented from sea-water intrusion and high sea-level rise.
