The expressway is one of the key transport project connecting Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.
Once coming into operation, the expressway will help ease traffic congestion on National Highway No. 1 and boost socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta.

Contractors have completed 27% of the Build-Operate-Transfer project and 100% site clearance for the project, Tien Giang authorities reported.
Speaking at the construction site, PM Phuc repeated the deadline for official operation of the 51.1km expressway by 2021.

The same day, PM Phuc also inspected landslide areas and visited families affected by landslides in Tan Thanh Commune, Go Cong Dong District, of the Southern province of Tien Giang. This is one of the most serious landslide areas in the locality.

Phuc told the local leaders to develop comprehensive measures to ensure lives and property of the local residents while increasing forest plantation areas.
He also visited families affected by landslides in the Tan Thanh Commune./.
