The Government chief made the point on August 28 while meeting with local leaders.
Alerting of lagging behind
PM Phuc called on the southern province to fully tap these potentials to avoid being left behind due to low and unsustainable economic growth and shortcomings in industrial economy.
He suggested Phu Yen strive for preset socio-economic norms, better budget collection, poverty reduction, and infrastructure development.
The locality was asked to convert Tuy Hoa into a first-class city.
He recommended the local authorities to focus on evaluating the environmental impacts and protecting the local habitat, especially in coastal, residential and industrial areas; effectively implement the agricultural restructuring project towards increasing the application of science and technology, as well as invest in potential farm produce that brings high economic value and is suitable with the local soil and climate.
He suggested developing the local strengths such as raising cows, breeding shrimps and catching tuna, while concentrating to forest conservation and development.
He also asked local authorities to improve administrative procedures and remove difficulties for enterprises to create a healthy investment climate to increase provincial competitiveness index.
The gross regional domestic product (GRDP)’s growth in the first six months of 2016 reached 7.9%./.
