Speaking at the forum, Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue highlighted the two-way trade turnover between the two nations of US$2 billion in 2016, heading to reach US$4 billion by 2020. Turkish businesses poured US$730 million in 13 projects in Viet Nam.
Viet Nam attaches importance to the multi-faceted relationship with Turkey, regarding trade and investment as crucial pillars in promoting the two sides’ relations, he affirmed.
The two nations have a number of opportunities to enhance cooperation in other areas such as industry, investment, agriculture, culture, tourism, education, petroleum, maritime economics, auxiliary industry and human resources development.
The Deputy PM expected that businesses will take the lead in launching and realizing the two countries’ economic and trade cooperative agreements.
The Turkish PM proposed the two Governments make efforts in supporting enterprises, tackling obstacles and creating more opportunities for businesses, adding that a free trade agreement should be established.
He supposed that his official visit to Viet Nam opens a new chapter in the two nations’ relationship, with a large number of Turkish corporations visiting Viet Nam to accelerate economics and trade and hoping to invest in fields of infrastructure, health and other sectors.
He also encouraged Vietnamese investors to pour investment in Turkey, expressing his determination to assisting businesses.
The forum was jointly organized by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK).
