The 14-member team is responsible for advising the PM on mid-term and long-term economic development strategies, plans, projects and policies.
The team will evaluate the implementation of the aforesaid documents in order to suggest revisions to mechanisms and policies.
It will also suggest measures to timely cope with domestic and international economic developments and offer independent comments on the PM’s major economic projects before submitting to the Politburo, National Assembly.
The team is allowed to cooperate with local and foreign experts and contributors and invited to attend related meetings of the Government and the PM.
The decision to form the Economic Advisory Group reflects the Government’s determination to work towards professional governance.
Speaking at the meeting with the team members on Saturday, PM Phuc stressed on the importance of science-based governance as a factor to ensure success.
The Government chief affirmed he will continue to be attentive to the team members both through indirect and direct manners.
The members are:
- Associate Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Anh from Indiana, the U.S.
- Dr. Vu Thanh Tu Anh, Research Director of the Fulbright Economic Teaching Program in Ho Chi Minh City
- Dr. Vu Bang, former Chairman of the State Securities Commission
- Dr. Nguyen Dinh Cung, President of the Central Institute for Economic Management
- Dr. Tran Tho Dat, Professor, President of the National Economics University
- Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong from France
- Associate Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Khuong from National University of Singapore
- Dr. Tran Du Lich, former President of Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Economics
- Dr. Truong Van Phuoc, Acting Chairman of National Financial Supervisory Commission
- Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics
