Japan invites VN to join G7 Summit

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed the crucial role of Japan in Viet Nam’s diplomatic relations and socio-economic development during his reception for Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Fukada Hiroshi on April 9.

PM Phuc revealed that the National Assembly has approved the election of 21 new Cabinet members, including three Deputy Prime Ministers.

He appraised Japan for hosting the G7 Summit this May and extended thanks to Japanese PM Shinzo Abe for inviting him to attend the event.

PM Phuc hopes to hold bilateral talks with PM Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the meeting to discuss ways to promote the Viet Nam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership.

Viet Nam will redouble efforts to enhance the bilateral cooperation, consultation and coordination mechanisms for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, said PM Phuc.

The Japanese Ambassador said that PM Shinzo Abe expects to welcome PM Phuc to attend this year’s G7 Summit.

The diplomat also expressed his hope that the two PMs will hold talks to accelerate the bilateral cooperation not just in economy but also other areas.

Having carried out ground surveys on saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta and drought in the Central and Central Highlands, the Japanese Government expects to beef cooperation with Viet Nam to improve the latter’s response capacity,  according to the Ambassador.

Japan also hopes to assist Viet Nam in strengthening public governance capacity and improving business environment, he added./.
