The project aims to exploit and use water resources effectively and sustainably in the context of climate change, water-level decline, salt-water intrusion and land subsidence cased by exploitation of groundwater in the coastal areas in the Mekong Delta.
It also strengthens the capacity of water management in locality, updates and supplements data and establishes data on groundwater as well as improves the awareness of the community and enhances coordination between professional agencies on management of groundwater.
The project will be launched nationwide within four years from 2018-2022.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is responsible for carrying out the project, which costs nearly US$2.5 million.
