The program is expected to support the Vietnamese Government in addressing priority issues of the country’s healthcare system and implementing the healthcare strategy in period of 2016 – 2020, vision to 2030.
The program will help enhance institutional and human capabilities, health financing, pharmaceutical products, health services delivery in order to reduce households’ healthcare expenditures and increase presence of doctors at communal-level health stations.
It will help improve the core capacity in line with the International Health Regulations (IHR) and utilize efficiently the WHO’s financial support for Viet Nam.
In addition, the program will also help reduce infection rate of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and malaria.
The Ministry of Health is responsible for implementing the program between 2018 and 2019 with total non-refundable official development assistance estimated at US$21 million.
