The Vietnamese Government chief made the point on April 10 in Ha Noi while hosting a reception for WHO Director-General Margaret Chan who was on a working visit to Viet Nam.
PM Phuc thanked the international organization for its regular attention and close ordination with the Vietnamese healthcare sector and its sharing of valuable experience.
The Vietnamese Government always attaches importance to healthcare protection for people and focuses on prevention measures, said PM Phuc.
He also praised recommendations of the WHO General-Director on development of a family doctor system and preventive work.
According to Mr. Phuc, Viet Nam has done its utmost to develop the production of preventive and valuable medicines and take care of people’s health, especially those in rural areas.
Hence, Viet Nam proposed WHO continue to support the healthcare sector; perfect the medical apparatus; improve the quality of healthcare services.
In return, Ms. Margaret Chan congratulated Viet Nam on its enormous socio-economic achievements, especially the country’s initiative “No One Left Behind.”
The General-Director recommended the Southeast Asian nation formulate an independent agency specializing in assessing the quality of new drugs and technology in the health sector; apply tight regulations on the issuance of healthcare certificates for doctors in a three-year term in maximum and periodical assessment with a view to ensuring their quality.
Ms. Margaret Chan urged Viet Nam to accelerate the training of doctors working in general practice; family doctors; properly manage private healthcare clinics.
WHO would continue to provide positive consultations for Viet Nam, affirmed the General-Director./.
